Abstract

The subject of this research is futuristic throwback and exploring in philosophical hidden assumptions of urban sustainable development in the light of Allameh Tabatabaee’s philosophical thoughts and his theory (constructional perceptions). Due to several reasons varying from ignoring the contextual issues to inattention to local philosopher’s theories, Allameh Tabatabaee’s theory was used to formulate a context-orientated theory about development. The research method of this paper is qualitative and based on reviewing philosophical texts, reasoning and comparison of ideas. As a result, this paper argues that the the urban sustainable development are the one type of constructional perceptions and they essentially include the concept of movement. Development is a qualitative concept, which is defined, based on the values of the society and its definition of truth and perfectness. To define human, other ideas such as human needs and human interactions (with himself, others and environment) needs to be clarified. To understand the idea of development one should outline the idea of perfect human. Development is based on two principles: One is “the human endeavor for life” which aims to minimize the harms and maximize the benefits and the other is “adaptation to the environment”. In addition, based on Allameh’s theory, development has two different aspects: the pre-social and social. In the other word, although development is a social concept; but it is in connection with pre-social constructional perceptions. So, although necessity, which is a pre-social constructional perception, is a pre-conditional concept for moving forward for development. Constructional perception of goodness and evilness is like guidance for having the flexibility and preventing the dogmatism. With the same manner as in the previous, this paper finds a connection between constructional perceptions and development concepts. And finally 36 strategies of development and urban sustainable development based on epistemological and anthropological general assumptions have identified.
