Problem Statement: With the growth of urbanization, the population explosion in cities, and the need for knowledge-based institutional governance development, the concept of landscape was considered critically in relation to body-oriented developments. Considering that the concept of landscape, the concept of urban landscape entered the field of academic discussions with an emphasis on the citizen's perception of urban spaces. The main challenge in approaching the concept of urban landscape is the plurality of definitions and concepts for a specific phenomenon; as a result, across numerous definitions inside and outside the country, there is no relative agreement on a theoretical concept.
Objective: Given the theoretical differences around the concept of urban landscape among theorists in different fields, this study attempts to reach a more comprehensive definition of urban landscape by examining, rereading, and analyzing specialized literature related to the field of urban landscape, and by exploring its obvious and hidden components.
Research Method: Given the interdisciplinary nature of the urban landscape topic, in the first part, the texts related to this field were reviewed in a descriptive-analytical manner from the perspective of experts to identify important components in the field of urban landscape; then the data were analyzed and examined using the method of logical reasoning.
Findings: Modern science, with a detailed and one-dimensional view of urban phenomena, reads the realities of the city as an algebraic set, and each group of experts presents a component of this set in proportion to their expertise. However, the city is an inter-mental and situational phenomenon that citizens understand and interpret with their own minds through the physics of the city. Accordingly, the components hidden in the definitions, when faced with the urban landscape phenomenon, are space, agency, perception in relation to scale and time, mental images, and the representation and construction of space
