Among all the nations, plants have a special sanctity, and this is a reason of transferring the manifestation of plant meaning in different nations. So the aim of this paper is comprehension the concept of the sacred plants that used in Iranian architecture before Islamic age and finding the impact of the Iran's pre-Islamic architecture on Islamic architecture, with emphasis on the Umayyad and Abbasid periods. Since these concept related to religious and mythical beliefs and included cultural and historical identity, in this paper lots of cultural, regional and architectural studies have been done. For this purpose, symbolic and mythical plants including lotus flower, cypress, palm and etc, which used in both pre-Islamic and Islamic architecture, have been evaluated. This paper try to find the durability of these plants in thought and the reason of transferring the reliefs from Iran's pre-Islamic architecture on Islamic architecture. So with qualitative methods, and historical interpretation and reference to studies in this filed, the sacred themes and wisdom in the plants is exploited and has been analyzed and reviewed in both historical period. The result shows there is virtually such as purity, vitalization, sacred and wisdom inside of this plant, and this is the reason of their use in architecture in both period. Also, geographic neighborhood, affiliates to the same ideals, language, art and Partnership in the creation and development of scientific correspondent are other reasons for the transfer of plant motifs from Iran's pre-Islamic architecture and culture on Islamic architecture in particular, the Umayyad and Abbasid periods.
