The symbolic value of handicrafts and regional arts, as well as the alignment with economic capital, as expressed by theorists such as Bourdieu, illustrates the importance of their interest in societies. The symbolic place of these arts and their cultural performance, which is based on their authenticity, makes the originality of these works crucial to be considered. Accordingly, in this article, the criteria for assessing the originality of the UNESCO's artistic work are adapted for determining the originality of the syntactic works of Abdul Rahim Foroutan.
Thus, research questions are as follows: What are the criteria for the originality of the work of UNESCO? How do these criteria fit with the works of Furton?
This study aims at the awareness of craftsmen of these criteria. The importance of this issue is the validation of handicrafts by expressing certain criteria and the necessity of obtaining the credit of the productive works of Iranian handicraftsmen and benefiting them in different aspects of the work.
This qualitative research is a comparative method that describes and analyzes its results by using the principles of UNESCO's originality and adapting them to the artwork of one of Dezful's artists. The data of this research are based on library and field resources.
The findings indicate that copyrights, social rights, originality of ideas, material quality, attention to identity and traditional aesthetic principles, consideration of environmental issues and marketing and supply capabilities in global markets are the main pillars of the originality in artworks. The main is the originality of a work, which can be achieved in small workshops with the least facilities in all regions of the country, but it needs to increase the horizons of artists interested in performing arts and adhere to the performance criteria enumerated in this study.
